About Us
The Pigskin Roundball Spectacular began in 1990 as a dream of Mark Kerns to have both a football and a basketball personality speak in Middletown, Ohio. The event has grown to one of Southwest Ohio’s biggest athletic evenings. Since its inception, “some of the greatest names in coaching and some of the best athletes have graced the Pigskin Roundball stage.” Motivational talks by personalities such as Dick Vitale, Anthony Munoz, Oscar Robertson, Mike Krzyzewski, Joe Theismann, Digger Phelps, and Archie Griffin have provided a short inspirational message to both young and old in the Miami Valley. The complete list of past speakers reads like a “Who’s Who” in sports. Along with the presentations by the two Spectacular Speakers, three Gold Medals are awarded. One to an individual outstanding in the State of Ohio, one to a Middletown High School exceptional Coach or past athlete and one to a Friend of Middie Athletics. Proceeds from this event fund donations to local charities and combined with the Jeff Wiley Memorial College Scholarship, endow scholarships for local scholar/athletes.
